BASMATI RICE

 
Ingredients:
2 Cups Cold Water
1 Cup Basmati Rice
1 Tablespoon Butter Or Margarine
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Large Diced Onion [optional]
1 Large Diced Carrot [optional]
1 Cup Fresh Sprouts [optional]
3 Tablespoons Soy Sauce [optional]
3 Tablespoons Teriyaki Sauce [optional]

Cooking Directions:
Basmati rice is one of many long grained rice. Basmati rice is very well known for its strong aroma and unique taste. Basmati rice is longer and wider than any other rice. The name comes from Hindi meaning "The Fragrant One" or "Soft Rice." But Cooking Basmati rice is the same as any other. In a saucepan mix water, rice and butter or margarine, and 1 teaspoon salt. Cover with a tight fitting lid. Bring to boiling, reduce heat. Cook 15 minutes and do not lift cover. Remove from heat after 15 minutes and let stand covered for an additional 10 minutes. Serve warm with a side of sauteed or steamed veggies.
